Company Overview

Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations build voice offerings that are ‘Powered by Deepgram’, including Twilio, Cloudflare, Sierra, Decagon, Vapi, Daily, Cresta, Granola, and Jack in the Box. Deepgram’s voice-native foundation models are accessed through cloud APIs or as self-hosted and on-premises software, with unmatched accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. Backed by a recent Series C led by leading global investors and strategic partners, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

Deepgram is the Voice AI platform powering the next generation of mission-critical government systems, including contact center modernization, benefits and case processing, and real-time speech applications across Defense, Federal Civilian, Intelligence Community, and State, Local, and Education (SLED) agencies. As we scale our federal footprint, Systems Integrators and Primes, cloud hyperscalers, and channel partners are our highest-leverage route to market. Our partners sit at the center of the AI modernization programs happening inside every federal agency. We are hiring a Federal Partner Manager to build, grow, and scale Deepgram's federal partner network from the ground up.

This is a builder role. You will own the strategy and execution for our named Systems Integrator and Prime practices alongside strategic hyperscaler alliances and channel partners, and you will define what a world-class AI-native federal partner motion looks like at Deepgram. You will design and drive sell-to, sell-through, and sell-with motions, land joint solutions inside each partner's delivery and capture organization, and deliver measurable partner-sourced and partner-influenced revenue. You will not run a traditional partner program. You will run an AI-first approach: leveraging agents, automation, and data to operate at 10x the scale of a conventional federal alliances team.

If you are a partner leader who thrives on whitespace, has a proven record scaling federal SI/prime and hyperscaler relationships from zero, and genuinely wants to use AI to reinvent how federal partner GTM is done, this role is for you.

What you'll do

Work closely with the VP of Federal and own the federal partner strategy end-to-end. Build and execute the named-account strategy for federal and strategic hyperscaler partners; including joint value propositions, partner account plans, solution plays, and governance cadences with each partner's alliances and delivery leadership.

Drive sell-to, sell-through, and sell-with motions:

Sell-to: Land Deepgram as the embedded speech/voice AI layer inside each SI/prime's own AI platforms, mission software factories, and delivery accelerators.

Sell-through: Stand up repeatable SI/prime-led offerings (agency contact center transformation, DoD voice-enabled C2/ISR analytics, benefits-processing voice AI) that the partner takes to its agency customers under its own contract vehicle.

Sell-with: Co-sell into named federal accounts with SI and hyperscaler account teams, owning joint pipeline, forecast, and deal execution alongside Deepgram's Federal Account Executives.

Build a measurable partner-sourced and partner-influenced pipeline. Set quarterly and annual targets with each partner, instrument the pipeline end-to-end, and own the number.

Work alongside the partner team to build the federal partner enablement and credential/certification program. Align Deepgram's Applied Engineering/FDE playbook with SI and hyperscaler delivery teams.

Create the joint solutions. Work with product, engineering, solutions architects, and each partner's industry/mission practices to package reference architectures, delivery playbooks, and offerings specific to Defense/DoW, Federal Civilian, IC, and SLED.

Enable at scale. Design and launch partner enablement — technical certifications, sales plays, GovCloud demo environments, and solution-led training — plus contract-vehicle placement (GSA MAS, NASA SEWP, CIO-SP3, GWACs); so hundreds of partner sellers and practitioners can position, demo, and deliver Deepgram.

Be AI-native in how you work. This is a defining part of the role. You will build and deploy AI systems — agents, automations, data pipelines — to do the job of a conventional 5–10 person federal alliances team. Examples:

Agents that monitor SI/prime alliance news, contract awards, GSA Schedule updates, and account movements, and auto-draft briefs.

Automated partner-sourced pipeline hygiene, account mapping, and co-sell attribution using Deepgram's CRM, Slack, and partner portals.

AI-generated partner-specific collateral, solution briefs, and enablement content tuned to each partner's agency vertical.

Data pipelines that join Deepgram's CRM with partner account maps and public procurement signals (SAM.gov, USASpending) to surface the next-best co-sell opportunity every week.

Represent Deepgram externally. Be the senior face of Deepgram in alliance QBRs, joint executive briefings, federal AI summits (AFCEA, ACT-IAC, GITEC), and industry events. Carry a consistent point of view on where federal voice AI is going and where Deepgram fits in the SI/prime agenda.

Partner cross-functionally inside Deepgram. Work closely with Federal Account Executives (Defense, Federal Civilian, IC, SLED), Applied Engineering, Capture/Proposal, Government Affairs, and Legal to remove friction and accelerate partner-driven revenue.

Report on what matters. Own the federal partner dashboard: partner-sourced pipeline, partner-influenced pipeline, joint wins, certified resources, joint solutions launched, and partner NPS; with crisp, honest narratives each month and quarter.

What you bring

Must be a U.S. citizen.

7+ years in partner management, alliances, business development, or federal enterprise sales — with at least 3–5 years directly owning SI/prime or hyperscaler federal relationships.

Demonstrated track record of building sell-to, sell-through, and sell-with motions with named federal partners and delivering measurable partner-sourced and partner-influenced revenue.

Experience scaling a federal partnership from early-stage or zero — not inheriting a mature program.

Strong command of how federal SIs/primes actually operate: capture teams, delivery centers, COEs, contract vehicles, teaming agreements, and how deals get sourced and staffed inside them.

Fluency with the federal AI landscape — LLMs, agentic AI, mission software factories, FedRAMP/DoD Impact Level authorization pathways, and hyperscaler federal co-sell motions.

Hands-on AI-native operator. You personally use AI tools every day — not as a talking point. You have built automations, agents, or data workflows that replaced meaningful human effort, and you can show us.

Excellent executive presence — comfortable opening and advancing conversations with partner SVPs, federal practice leads, and Deepgram's own executive team.

Analytical rigor. You instrument what you own, tell the truth with data, and translate numbers into decisions.

Self-directed, high-ownership, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

It would be great if you also had

An active security clearance is a bonus, not a requirement.

Existing strong relationships inside at least two of SI or Prime partner organizations.

Direct experience launching a joint federal offering or solution that produced repeatable agency engagements.

Background in speech, voice AI, CCaaS, or adjacent domains (AWS Connect GovCloud, Genesys Government, NICE, ServiceNow Federal).

Experience building internal AI tooling — agents, RAG systems, CRM automations — for a revenue team.

Notice: We're aware of individuals impersonating Deepgram recruiters. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

The Opportunity

Voice is the most natural modality for human interaction with machines. However, current sequence modeling paradigms based on jointly scaling model and data cannot deliver voice AI capable of universal human interaction. The challenges are rooted in fundamental data problems posed by audio: real-world audio data is scarce and enormously diverse, spanning a vast space of voices, speaking styles, and acoustic conditions. Even if billions of hours of audio were accessible, its inherent high dimensionality creates computational and storage costs that make training and deployment prohibitively expensive at world scale. We believe that entirely new paradigms for audio AI are needed to overcome these challenges and make voice interaction accessible to everyone.

The Role

Deepgram is currently looking for seasoned Data Scientists with demonstrated experience solving hard data problems while exploring research frontiers to join our Research Staff. Conversational audio presents incredibly rich scientific, engineering, and infrastructure challenges that are orders of magnitude harder than working with text. As a Member of the Research Staff, you will help us to build an industrial “data factory” that will be used to power the next generation of Voice AI systems - unlocking the creation of models that go beyond basic transcription and comprehension, capturing nuanced meanings in complex conversations, adapting robustly to diverse speech patterns, and generating empathic responses with human-like, contextualized speech. You will collaborate closely with our product, engineering, and data teams to build and deploy models in the most scalable voice API on the planet. We look forward to you bringing your expertise, sharing insights from your latest experiments, and collaborating with us to push the boundaries of AI and voice technology.

The Challenge

We are seeking Research Staff who:

See 'unsolved' problems as opportunities to pioneer entirely new approaches

Can identify the one critical experiment that will validate or kill an idea in days, not months

Have the vision to scale successful proofs-of-concept 100x

Are obsessed with using AI to automate and amplify your own impact

If you find yourself energized rather than daunted by these expectations—if you're already thinking about five ideas to try while reading this—you might be the researcher we need. This role demands obsession with the problems, creativity in approach, and relentless drive toward elegant, scalable solutions. The technical challenges are immense, but the potential impact is transformative.

What You'll Do

Drive high performance data acquisition, preparation and synthesis pipelines to generate data for the next generation of speech and language AI foundation models

Develop advanced characterizations of complex conversational audio utilizing a diverse toolkit of signals processing techniques and deep learning models

Collaborate with DataOps and Engineering to create automated systems which scale the ability of human annotators to label high value data and provide critical feedback on model outputs

Build advanced benchmarking methodologies and curated datasets for evaluating conversational voice systems

Document and present results of data experiments and analysis for internal and external audiences

You’ll Love This Role If You

Are obsessed with making sense out of complex and/or messy data

Enjoy building from the ground up and love to create new systems from scratch

Are passionate about AI and interested in leveraging data to solve hard problems

Are motivated by the prospect of scaling yourself using automation and AI models

It's Important to Us That You Have

Experience building data processing pipelines from a blank page and owning the entire data stack including data acquisition, characterization, cleaning, serving and transformation

Experience and expertise applying statistical methods and deep learning models to understand complex data

Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex concepts in simple terms, depending on the target audience

Strong software engineering skills with particular emphasis on developing clean, modular code in Python and working with Pytorch

Nice to Haves

Background in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Language Processing

Experience building models

Speech and audio experience

Notice: We're aware of individuals impersonating Deepgram recruiters. We build the models that allow machines to hear, understand, and speak to humans with zero latency. As we scale our usage-based economy, we are building the 'Intelligence Layer'—a system of autonomous agents that monitor, reason, and act on our data to drive NRR and operational excellence.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Decision Intelligence, you are the founding engineer of the Data Intelligence team. While the Head of Data sets the strategic 'Brain' of the company, you build the nervous system. You are not building legacy dashboards; instead you are building the API-based tools, dbt models, and semantic layers that allow AI agents to navigate our data environment autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

Semantic Layer Architecture: Build and maintain high-fidelity dbt and SQL models that serve as the 'ground truth' for our complex, usage-based revenue models.

Agent Tooling & Integration: Develop the tools and permissions frameworks that allow 'Analyst Agents' to query Athena, correlate Salesforce churn signals, and identify API latency issues.

Infrastructure Evolution: Serve as the technical bridge to the Engineering/Infra team to ensure our data contracts are 'agent-ready' and highly reliable.

The 'Unlock Audio Intelligence' Project: Partner with the Head of Data to ingest thousands of hours of internal calls using Deepgram’s own models, turning unstructured audio into queryable insights for GTM teams.

Automation Obsession: Maintain a culture where manual, repetitive SQL tasks are viewed as automation bugs to be solved with code and agents.

Requirements

Experience: 5+ years in high-growth Data or AI Engineering roles.

AI-Native Technical Skills: Mastery of SQL and Python (production-grade) with a proven track record of building RAG or Agentic systems on top of structured data.

Usage-Based SaaS Fluency: Familiarity with the metrics of an API-first business, such as consumption patterns, gross margins, and NRR.

Builder Mindset: Comfort with 'work-in-progress' infrastructure and the ability to turn messy, siloed data into high-impact business logic.

Bonus Points

Prior experience as a Software Engineer or Data Engineer.

Experience with real-time billing and consumption systems.

Contributions to open-source data or AI projects.

Notice: We're aware of individuals impersonating Deepgram recruiters. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

About the role

Analytics is only as trustworthy as the definitions underneath it. As more reporting and decision-making moves to AI agents, the cost of ambiguous or conflicting metric definitions compounds, an agent applies the wrong rule confidently, at scale, and nobody catches it.

This role exists to prevent that. You will own what our numbers mean, make those definitions enforceable in the systems that serve them, and verify that both people and agents are using them.

This is a governance-first role with real technical depth. You will spend your time defining, implementing, and validating, building pipelines and developing agentic reporting are secondary.

What you'll work on

Own the metric registry. Establish canonical definitions for the metrics the business runs on. Where competing versions exist, convene the owners, document the disagreement, and drive to a decision. Publish changes with a clear statement of what moves and why.

Make definitions enforceable. Implement agreed definitions in the semantic layer and data catalog so they are applied by the system rather than described in a document. Retire superseded versions.

Reduce the surface area. Audit the reporting estate, retire assets with no audience, and establish ownership for what remains.

Build data quality checks/agents. Freshness, uniqueness, referential integrity, and cross-system reconciliation — with failures routed to named owners/agents who act on them.

Verify AI agents. Maintain an inventory of agents accessing company data and the definitions each relies on. Evaluate agent output against known-correct answers and track accuracy, refusal, and error rates.

Enable self-serve. Make governed data accessible and trustworthy for people querying it directly or through AI tools.

Qualifications

5+ years in analytics, analytics engineering, or a closely related field

Strong SQL, including comfort reverse-engineering undocumented transformation logic written by others

Direct ownership of a semantic or metrics layer in production — dbt, Cube, LookML, or equivalent. Not just usage: responsibility for what went into it and why

Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicting metric definitions across functions and land a decision

Clear written communication. Most of your output is documentation others must trust without re-deriving it

Comfort deprecating and removing work that others built

Experience evaluating LLM or AI agent output against ground truth

Experience developing or contributing to a data catalog and/or lineage tooling

Nice to have

Experience with lakehouse architectures, Iceberg, Athena, Trino, or similar

Exposure to audit readiness, SOX, or financial controls environments

Consumption or usage-based business models, where committed, consumed, invoiced, and recognised revenue are genuinely different numbers

Having joined a function early, before process existed

Notice: We're aware of individuals impersonating Deepgram recruiters.
