About

Affirm

Affirm is a financial technology company started in San Francisco in 2012. It was created as an alternative to traditional credit cards, offering installment loans with the total payment amount and schedule shown before a purchase is completed. The company expanded through partnerships with online and physical retailers and became publicly traded on Nasdaq in 2021.

Consumers can use Affirm at checkout to split eligible purchases into four interest-free payments or longer monthly plans that may charge interest, depending on the offer and credit decision. Affirm also provides virtual cards and the Affirm Card for using approved payment plans beyond directly integrated stores. For merchants, it supplies checkout financing and payment-network technology. Affirm operates as a remote-first company, while maintaining offices and shared workspaces in several cities.
